After a gap of ten years Theatre Alba returned to the Edinburgh Fringe with a trilogy of Scottish productions-Scottish stories old and new - of obsessive love, spiritual longing and the search for our cultural roots. Re-uniting the creative team who brought us THE BRUCE, THE HOLY ISLE, THE LASS WI THE MUCKLE MOU, THE PUDDOK AND THE PRINCESS and previous productions of THE SHEPHERD BEGUILED. All three Theatre Alba productions were directed by CharlesNowosielski with music by Richard Cherns.

Review Quote from "Three Weeks" Festival Fringe Newspaper

"........it deals with women's concerns in a mystical, surrealistic way. Scottish tradition and history are both brought beautifully to life in this piece. It presents clearly the meaningful and touching range of the emotions of women who loved and respected the guardian angel of Scotland.

The cast is uniformly good, and the script is both sensitive and poetic as it displays the lives of women from a far-off time.

The mood and setting of this piece are well handled to produce a saga of Celtic ritual, romance and tragedy that is not to be missed."

GOOD MORNING MR BURNS

Reared in a household dominated by her Burns idolising father, Lorna is an expert on the man and his work. But her version of events brings an entirely new approach to the life and times of Scotland's greatest poet.

The Scotsman said of a previous production:
"It ís the kind of play that ís so beautifully written it sends shivers up your spine, it opens your ears to the grace and elegance of the old Scots tongue, your eyes to the infinite mysteries of the world and it sends you out feeling like you are walking on air....it's a triumph for Scottish theatre."
